PGI Tour NY “Look who is making the move”

Mt. Sinai, N.Y. – For golfers in the Northeast, the arrival of the dreaded autumnal equinox signals the end of the golf season is near. Golf Associations are busy preparing for their final events. So it is with the maiden season of the Philippine Golf Invitational Tour of New York.

The final qualifying round played on September 20th at the beautiful but treacherous Hamlet/Willow Creek Golf and Country Club in Mt. Sinai,New York yielded a winner known for his ability to manage the terrain. From the back tee, players had difficulty negotiating the water hazards and bunkers that littered all the holes.
In essence, the golf course won as nobody broke par. Coming out the winner of the “Clint Mendoza Cup” was Ramon Atienza of New Jersey. For his first win, he shot a net 73. George Javier placed 2nd and Clint Mendoza 3rd. Tied for 4th place were John Gregorios,Eric Do and this writer. Final consolation prize went to Joe Barreno. Closest to the pin winners were Allan Adonay and John Gregorios on the Front nine and Ralph Mapili and Bernie Sta. Juana on the back nine.
Atienza’s easy going and unassuming
demeanor belies his golf course a*****en. He is well liked by his peers.

The darkening sky was brightened by the highlight of the day, a HOLE IN ONE by BERNIE STA.JUANA on the undulating green of the 174 yards 16th. As the saying goes, an ACE makes you a complete golfer. To do it in a tournament witnessed by friends and golf foes alike makes it even more special. CHEERS for the first ever recorded hole in one in PGI TOUR NY tournament history.

The finale and awarding ceremonies will be at Pine Ridge Golf Club on October 18th. The top 8 money leader will compete for the title “Grand Champion 2009″.
Leading the qualifiers is Arnel Sicat followed by Rolly Tupaz, Charlie Ben, this writer, Allan Adonay, Clint Mendoza, George Javier and John Gregorios.
They will compete in a tournament within the regular tournament. With the help of generous sponsors and donors, the culminating activity promises to be a fun filled and joyous event to end 2009 season.
Participants will hibernate until the coming of the vernal equinox in 2010 when they will resume practicing for next season’s more exciting and even bigger tournaments.

2nd Ryder Cup FilAmNJ VS. FAGA

Congratulations to all FilAmNJ Golfers for a Job Well Done!!!
Fuhhgetttabouut the US Open or even the Subway Series. That don’t mattah! All eyes on the prize of the 2nd Annual Ryder Cup!
Friends and rivals, who are also friends, it was a pleasure to duke it out once more at the legendary greens of the Hickory golf course in Warwick, NY.
This year we managed to kill three birdies with one bullet: FilAMNJ’s 7th Tournament, the 1st Round of FAGA’s Masters Tournament and of course the Friendship Ryder Cup.
It was a very exciting yet friendly match between the two groups. FAGA players were SOOOO determined that they even drove 2-3 hours just to meet their rivals! And though FAGA lost the match, we still salute you for your blood, sweat, and tears of sadness on the way home which I’m sure made the drive back to Long Island feel even longer.
It is with my biased honor to announce that this year, the FilAMNJ golfers hunted for those birdies and brought home the grand prize of the day: The prestigous Ryder trophy and ANOTHER full year of bragging rights.
As the late Michael Jackson would say while grabbing his crowned jewels, “EeeEEee HEeeEEEE!” FilAMNJ, know that I am doing my version of the moon walk in honor of our victory. Also, thank you for following my advice of sleeping early and staying far away from your spouses. See, a little bit of testosterone (or estrogen) goes a long way on game day!
So, the fat lady has sung and what a sweet tune it was. Let her voice sing loudly all year till we meet again.
And  to all the renegades: Our club doors welcome all of you.
Till next time, keep on swingin’!I`m Bad..Im bad……………….
